At Ithaca Montessori School, we believe it is important for parents to understand both the Montessori teaching principles and how children learn in our environment. Each year, we hold several parent education workshops for our parents to further provide a window into the Montessori classroom, experience first-hand what and how your children are learning, and bridge the gap from home-classroom. Workshops are led by classroom teachers and IMS administrators.
Parents are encouraged to take part in as many Parent Education Nights as possible. We offer FREE child care during most sessions, provided by our teachers. Participation counts towards each family’s parent hour requirements.
Once a month parents to come together as a supportive community to hear advice and ideas on child development grounded in Montessori philosophy. Each month there will be a different topic presented, but the conversation will evolve based on the needs of the group. This is a different approach from our more formal parent education nights, where you can have a chance to ask questions specific to your child or family situation. These sessions are open to both toddler and primary families.
The group is facilitated by Uniit Carruyo, Head Teacher of the Nido Program. She loves spending time with parents and talking about all things related to raising happy, healthy children. These discussions will happen from 9am – 10am one Thursday per month so that you can join us right after you drop your child off.
