IMS Outdoor Science and Art Summer Enrichment Themes 2017!
for Primary and Elementary age children
Session 1: Wild Discoveries
July 3rd-14th (No camp on July 4th)
Not only will we get to know each other this week, but we will also meet the wild inhabitants of IMS, from the salamanders to the trees, from the wildflowers to the millipedes. We will be making some fascinating discoveries while we explore the forest and streams and we will even make some new friends along the way!
Session 2: Plant Power!
From the beautiful sunflower to the stately oak tree, plants of all shapes and sizes can be strange, inspiring, delicious, interesting and important! This session we will learn all about plants by growing flowers, herbs and veggies in the IMS gardens and by discovering mosses, ferns, trees and more in the IMS forest.
Session 3: The Playful Artist
July 31st-August 11th
How do we become artists? We play, experiment, and take chances! This session is all about having fun and learning how to cultivate creativity through play. We will investigate the use of non traditional art materials and question the use of common art materials to learn more about ourselves as artists.
Session 4: Earth Art
August 14th- 25th
To conclude our summer program we will apply our knowledge of art and nature to create a collaborative art piece. We will learn how to use natural materials to create art and learn about how nature can inspire us.
