The Ithaca Montessori School invites and encourages individuals that have a love and respect for children to consider becoming a Montessori guide. A Montessori guide is a person who ensures that an optimal Montessori learning environment is available and accessible to children all throughout the day. A Montessori guide also values the importance of observation and professional development to build on the knowledge of the guiding Montessori principles. A Montessori guide supports children on their learning journey and serves as a continuous resource to them daily as they develop and grow.

There are two levels of support for children in our program, the Lead Montessori Guide and the Assistant Montessori Guide. A Lead Montessori Guide is an individual who has completed Montessori training and has obtained Montessori Guide certification from a reputable and recognized Montessori training program. The Lead Guide is responsible for every aspect of the classroom environment such as lesson planning, giving daily presentations to the children based on their readiness, observing and documenting their growth and development, classroom environment preparations and maintenance, parent communication, and guidance of their classroom team.

An Assistant Montessori Guide serves as a support to the Lead Guide in all aspects of the classroom environment, including daily preparations and maintenance of the Montessori environment. The Lead and Assistants are crucial in supporting the daily needs of all of the children.

If you are interested in learning more about how to become a part of the Ithaca Montessori School, please send an updated resume to the Program Director, Pam Weatherby at pam@ithacamontessori.org or apply to open positions posted on Indeed.
